Nothing else stacks up....not even halfway. If CCP really understood this and did it right, they'd have the best cash cow out. Unfortunately, they are obsessed with VR. Or at least someone is.... |

They're obsessed with VR, huh? Well too bad it's so expensive atm, too bad barely anyone will play their games because of that, too bad they won't make enough money to keep existing. Honestly, drop VR, it's a nice concept, you can watch VR movies, but playing games?... They say it's the simplest things that are always the best, so give us a goddamn keyboard and mouse and be done with it. /rant It's clear that VR is an obsession. CCP recently made comment that their VR is now starting to break even, so they are existing on the revenues from their non-VR games. Why put at jeopardy their real earners by obsessively pursuing something like VR which isn't even commercially proven technology? Yes, they're keeping EvE going, but they canned Dust, and think how much more they could have done with EvE or a Dust port. VR remains to this day a glint in CCP's eye. The true test will be when they decide to can everything else to pursue VR, whether that will be the end of them or not.... |

All I do is queue up my next skill (as there was a lot of basic skills I ignored due to being focused on industry), queue up my next blueprint research, check chats/mail, and log out. I haven't found a reason to undock yet. I am not sure why I am doing it which is obvious if you read the original post. Maybe I am still hoping for integration between EVE and Nova or maybe hopping into EVE for a short time reminds me of a game I used to love to play. Either way, it's pretty sad. Why don't you undock and just fly a few missions? Just for the fun of it and for old times? Or did you PvP back in the day? I don't know how well a basic clone would go with PvP, that's always been my main argument for good PvE, so pilots with zero skills could still do something. But if PvP was what you wanted to do, I imagine an Alpha clone with limited everything, and only able to fly one race, would have a difficult time of it. |

But if PvP was what you wanted to do, I imagine an Alpha clone with limited everything, and only able to fly one race, would have a difficult time of it. I actually started to try a few things out of station but CCP really has Alpha clones locked down where there seems little point. Alpha clones do seem useful to get new players into the game at their own pace but there's really no point in playing as an Alpha clone if you got used to full access. And I don't have enough interest in EVE to pay for the subscription. I've just been killing time. Yes, I agree. My take on this is that Alpha clones get people into the game and they are good enough to give them a basic experience of their race's gear and skills, but not good enough to be truly satisfying. To do that, you need to subscribe and get full access to every skill. And of course, once you've tasted that, you never want to go back. I have a couple of Alpha accounts, extra accounts I used to subscribe, but I never bother playing them because they're too limiting. |
